Fr. Brad Sjoquist, Pastor

Fr. Brad Sjoquist: I’m Fr. Brad Sjoquist, and I’m excited to be the new pastor here at St. Joseph Parish in Sault Ste. Marie. I’m originally from Kingsford, MI, and I was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Marquette in 2015. My first assignment was as parochial vicar of Holy Spirit and Resurrection Parishes in Menominee, MI. After three years there, the bishop asked me to go back to school. I spent 2018 through 2022 in Rome completing licentiate and doctoral degrees in moral theology. I successfully defended my doctoral thesis in May of 2022, and the bishop appointed me pastor of St. Joe’s effective July 5, 2022. Our parish’s goal is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We have great catechetical programs for children and teenagers and a vibrant campus ministry at the Lake Superior State University Newman Center. We have an active food pantry through which we serve our local community, and we provide many opportunities for individuals to grow in faith through worship, education, and service. We are a supporting parish of St. Mary’s school, and we actively support its vision of forming holy, wise, and virtuous graduates. If I haven’t met you yet, please introduce yourself to me. If you need to get in touch with me directly, please call the parish office or email me at frsjoquist@gmail.com.
