MEET THE CATECHIST. Each week we will be providing a photo and biography from each of our catechists. Please enjoy learning more about them.
Marsha Mitchell – I am a life-long parishioner of St. Joseph’s with my roots deeply planted here.
Being a member of the last 8th grade graduating class from St. Joseph School has given me the passion for continuing to form our children in our beautiful Catholic Faith. I’ve been involved in Faith Formation in one form or another since 1979.
Bill and I were married by Monsignor O’Callaghan 47 years ago. We have three children who have blessed us by adding their loving spouses to our family, and of course our nine beautiful grandchildren. I am truly honored to get to know your children.
My name is Margaret Swedene, and I love teaching Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. It brings me joy to share God’s love with preschoolers and deepen my own understanding of the Catholic faith through this experience. My husband and I have been parishioners at St. Joseph’s since 2002, and we feel blessed to raise our family in this wonderful community.
Hello my name is Jayne Barber. I have been the Lead Catechist for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd since 2018. Immediately following CGS, I then teach the Kindergarten Faith Formation Class, which I have done for the past four years. My husband and I converted to the Catholic Faith in 2016. We have two grown children and a wonderful son-in-law. Becoming Catholic has helped my faith grow to a deeper fullness of Christ that I never knew was possible. I enjoy sharing the love of Jesus, our Good Shepherd, and our Catholic faith with the youngest children of our parish. It’s going to be a great year!
Hi everyone, my name is Elizabeth and I am one of the catechists this year. This will be my second year teaching 1st grade for faith formation. I am currently a senior at Lake State majoring in Fire Science and Paramedic Technology. I am also a peer minister at the Newman Center. I love snowboarding and exploring the outdoors. I have been raised Catholic since I was a baby. I have grown to love the Catholic faith and passing it on to the younger generations. I can't wait to have a great year.
