High schoolers wishing to be confirmed received information about the procedure with their parents at our September 17th faith formation kickoff.
Confirmation program requirements:
Confirmands should be registered for high school faith formation by filling out the form here.
Confirmands must attend regional monthly youth group gatherings, including the retreat day in March. They should let Fr. Brad know in advance if they need to be absent for any reason.
Confirmands must attend a special session on the meaning of the Sacrament of Confirmation, to be scheduled in the spring of 2024.
Confirmands must select a sponsor. Sponsors for Confirmation must meet the same requirements as a sponsor for baptism. Sponsors should fill out this form to attest that they are eligible and return it to the confirmand who should turn it into Fr. Brad. Sponsors should be selected by December 1, 2023.
Confirmands should meet two to three times with their sponsors to talk about their journey of faith.
Confirmands must write a letter to the bishop asking to be confirmed. Instructions can be found here. They should turn their letters in directly to Fr. Brad. Letters are due February 28, 2024.
Confirmands may select the name of saint who will be their special patron. The saint should be a person canonized or beatified by the Church. Names should be selected by February 28, 2024.
Confirmands must meet with Fr. Brad for an interview during the Spring semester. Interview times will be scheduled sometime after Easter.
Confirmands are highly encouraged to join one of our small discipleship groups to go deeper in their faith. While not a strict requirement for Confirmation, these groups provide additional formation in the Christian life.
