Trunk or Treat

St. Joseph is hosting the first annual Trunk or Treat for parishioners and their families on Sunday, October 31 from 3:30-5pm. To make this event a success we need you—volunteers to decorate the trunk of their car and hand out candy. Can’t make the event? We are also accepting candy/treat donations! Drop them off in the room adjacent to the restroom after any of the weekend masses on October 30th or 31st. We’ll have a labeled tote ready for you.

For more information, read the FAQs below or text/call Kaitlin Juengel with questions: 906-440-6375. Thank you for your support!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  What is Trunk or Treat?

A:  Volunteers park their cars/trucks/vans at the church and decorate the “trunks” and hand out treats. It is a safe, fun way for kids to “trunk or treat” and bonus—you get to see all the fun costumes! Hot drinks will be provided.

Q: How do I decorate my trunk? I need ideas!

A: Click this link to get inspired by the many amazing examples of decorated trunks. But don’t worry—this is not a design competition and your trunk will not be judged! Put as little or as much effort into it as you want—the kids will be thrilled with anything you put together (and the sweets, of course). Remember, the more trunks we have, the more fun for the kids!

Q: Do I have to supply my own treats?

A: Yes. Because this is our first year, we aren’t sure of numbers but our best guess is ~100 kids.

Q: Is there a cost to participate or bring my family?
A: No—this is a free event!

Q: Do I have to have an activity?

A: No. Having an activity at your trunk is completely up to you. Activity or no activity, we welcome all decorated trunks and volunteers!

Q: Are there any other volunteer opportunities?

A: Yes! We need help making hot drinks and serving them. We also need help directing traffic and smiling faces to welcome families and answer questions they might have. We also need a clean-up crew at the end of the event. Please fill out the form above if you can help in any way. We’ll be in touch!

Q: Is this event open to the public?

A: No, this event is for the families and friends of St. Joseph Parish. In the future we may consider opening it up to the community, but being our first year we want to keep the event more limited in size.
